March/April/May Update

Over the course of late March and April the proposed Sign Code went in front of the Planning and Environmental Commission for review. Through these meetings, a number of changes to the proposed Sign Code were made. These included retaining additional signage for movie theaters, allowing a construction sign at each construction site entrance, reducing construction signage allowances to 8 square feet per sign, and reducing temporary signage allowances to 1 sign at 3 square feet for 14 days out of a year. Please see the updated Vail Sign Code Rough Draft for more detail.

Additionally, in April, the Sign Code was reviewed by the Design Review Board in a work session. The main outcome of this meeting was a desire to clarify the DRB’s ability to regulate signage textural qualities such as the extent of lettering projection.

The final ordinance for the Sign Code will be presented to the Vail Town Council for the first reading on May 18, 2021.
